Let’s get to it.

What Appliances Can You Run With EcoFlow DELTA Pro?

With 3.2kW of AC output (7.2kW surge), EcoFlow DELTA Pro can operate multiple high-wattage appliances simultaneously. You can also chain 2 x EcoFlow DELTA Pro together with the Double Voltage Hub to double your AC output to 7.2kW (14.4kW surge). Determining how much AC output and storage capacity you need is essential regardless of the kind of generator or home backup system you buy. If you want to run multiple appliances at once using EcoFlow DELTA Pro, their combined running wattage can’t exceed 3.2 kilowatts (7.2kW starting wattage). For example, if you want to operate your refrigerator, washing machine, and HVAC system all at once, 3.2 kilowatts of continuous AC output is unlikely to be sufficient. 2 x EcoFlow DELTA Pros may be enough. But you may be better off with EcoFlow DELTA Ultra Pro Ultra. It’s available in 7.2kW, 14.4kW, and 21.6kW AC output configurations and is expandable up to 90kWh of electricity storage.

How Long Will EcoFlow DELTA Pro Work During a Blackout?

The length of time EcoFlow DELTA Pro will run during a power outage depends on numerous factors, including:

  • Combined wattage of the devices and appliances you operate with EcoFlow DELTA Pro
  • How long you run each appliance for
  • State of charge of the portable power station(s) and any additional EcoFlow Smart Extra Batteries

Add up the combined wattage of all the devices, appliances, and HVAC systems that you want to operate during a blackout and ensure you have sufficient storage capacity and electricity generation potential to outlast an extended outage. EcoFlow DELTA Pro has multiple off-grid charging options — including solar panels and inverter generators like EcoFlow Smart Generator (Dual Fuel)

Is EcoFlow DELTA Pro Expandable?

Yes. EcoFlow DELTA Pro comes with 3.2kWh of storage capacity and is expandable to 25kWh with 2 x DELTA Pros, 1 x Smart Home Panel, and 4 x DELTA Pro Smart Extra Batteries. By chaining together 2 x EcoFlow DELTA Pros with the Double Voltage Hub, you can achieve up to 7.2kW of continuous AC output (14.4kW surge power). If you require more AC output and/or storage capacity, consider EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra for the ultimate in modular expandability.

Does EcoFlow DELTA Pro Connect to the Grid?

EcoFlow DELTA Pro is an off-grid home backup battery and solar generator. You can recharge the unit using household (AC) electricity, but it doesn’t connect directly to utility power through a bidirectional meter like a grid-tied or hybrid solar system. However, you can integrate EcoFlow DELTA Pro with your existing home wiring using the Smart Home Panel to keep it fully charged for auto-switchover to battery power in the event of a power outage. EcoFlow DELTA Pro is not eligible for programs like net metering as it cannot send electricity back to the grid. If you’re looking to sell excess electricity to your utility provider, consider EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra — a hybrid solar generator — instead.

How Many Solar Panels Can You Connect to EcoFlow DELTA Pro?

All solar panels — and other photovoltaic modules — specify a rated power output that’s determined in a lab under Standard Test Conditions.

Standard Test Conditions for Solar Panels

Condition TypeStandard Test ConditionReal-World Conditions
Solar Incident AngleAlways zero, irradiation beam always normal to the PV panel*Variable and depends on time, date, and site latitude. In the case of rooftop systems, roof orientation and inclination govern system capacity.
Solar IrradiationAlways equal to 1000 Watts/m²*Variable and depends on the time, date, and site latitude. Limited sunshine hours bound system capacity.
Ambient TemperatureAlways 25°C*Variable and depends on the time, date, weather condition, and site latitude. Higher ambient temperature degrades PV panel efficiency and reduces system output.
Air Mass Coefficient (AM)Always equal to 1.5*Variable and depends on the time, date, and site latitude. Higher AM with higher latitudes.
System Losses
(e.g., Wiring, Inverter)
Always Zero*Variable and depends on the design and location of PV panels, inverter, and grid meter.

*Cannot be achieved in real-world operation (Source: ResearchGate)

For example, EcoFlow’s 400W portable solar panel will produce 400W of electricity under the above conditions. It’s essential to keep in mind, however, that — except during peak sunlight — solar panels are unlikely to produce their full rated power during each hour of daylight. When planning your PV array, it’s safer to assume that your solar panels will produce 75% of their rated power during the day. Because all commercially available residential solar power systems produce electricity using the photovoltaic effect, solar panels don’t work at night and generate fewer watts on cloudy days. The solar charge input for 1 x EcoFlow DELTA Pro is 1.6kW, meaning you can connect up to 8 x 400W portable or rigid solar panels.  By chaining 2 x EcoFlow DELTA Pros together using the Double Voltage Hub, you double the solar input capacity to 3.2kW or 16 x 400W rigid solar panels.  If you require a larger solar panel array, consider EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra, where you can connect up to 42 x 400W solar panels.

Can EcoFlow DELTA Pro Charge My EV?

Yes, EcoFlow DELTA Pro provides Level 1 and Level 2 charging for electric cars and vehicles. With the EcoFlow EV X-Stream Adapter, you can also recharge DELTA Pro with an EV pile at home or on the road at thousands of L2 EV charging stations. While EcoFlow DELTA Pro can provide a “last-mile” boost to get you to the nearest charging station, it doesn’t have the storage capacity to give you much more than that. If you require a more robust backup power solution for your EV, consider EcoFlow DELTA Pro Ultra.

What Kind of Batteries Does EcoFlow DELTA Pro Use?

EcoFlow DELTA Pro uses industry-leading lithium iron phosphate (LFP/LiFePO4) batteries. LFP batteries have significant advantages over lead acid, sealed lead acid (VRLA, gel cell, AGM), nickel cadmium, and traditional lithium ion solar and home backup batteries. The primary benefits include:

  • Higher energy density
  • Greater depth of discharge
  • Longer cycle life (lifespan)
  • Wider range of operating temperatures
  • Faster charging times
