The Delta 2
As full-time travelers that blog about camping and traveling gear, we have tested a lot of portable power stations throughout the years.
The latest one we have had the chance to test and review for a while now is the EcoFlow DELTA 2.
If you have researched power stations, you might have come across EcoFlow’s products like the original Delta, which at the time of its release was a groundbreaking product that quickly gained popularity.
The Delta 2 is the upgraded version of the Delta, and in this post I would like to share my favorite features and why I believe it should be your next power station.
Why The Delta 2 Should Be Your Next Power Station
It’s more powerful than a household outlet
The pure sine wave inverter in the Delta 2 can output up to 1800W, which means it’s as powerful as a regular household 15A outlet.
But the X-boost feature makes it even more powerful, by pushing the output limit to 2200W.
The X-boost feature doesn’t work with all appliances and devices, but it works great with most devices that have heating- or cooling-elements.
One reason you want a power station that is as powerful as a wall outlet is so you’re able to use kitchen appliances during a power outage.
For us RVers, it’s useful every day since we can use appliances like the RV microwave, water boiler, air fryer, and Instant Pot.
You can expand the battery capacity, and it’s going to last you years
EcoFlow is one of few power station manufacturers that make extra batteries that you can chain to compatible power station models.
By doing this, you can double or triple the total battery capacity so it will last longer.
Not only that, but the Delta 2 uses LiFePO4 batteries. These are a lot more durable than the more typical Li-Ion batteries, which means that every cycle (every time it’s fully discharged and charged) does less damage.
The Delta 2 is rated for 3000 cycles before reaching 80% capacity. In comparison, the first Delta was rated for 800 cycles to the same 80% total capacity. A massive improvement!
A lot of competitors advertise 500 cycles to 80% capacity, which means that the Delta 2 will last at least 6 times as long.
My wife and I try our best to only buy products that are going to last us several years. If we would go through a cycle every single day for 8 years, the Delta 2 would still not be down to 80% capacity. How cool is that?
It has a lot of ports
There are always a lot of things that need to be charged or powered, and EcoFlow understands this.
That’s why they have put so many AC outlets, USB ports, and DC ports on the Delta 2.
With the six AC outlets (four on the EU version), four USB A ports, two 100W(!) USB C ports, and three DC ports, I can keep all of my devices plugged in and not worry about having to switch devices and cables throughout the day.
My favorite ports are the USB C ports, and both of them are rated at 100W output.
The reason I love the USB C ports so much is that I charge my phone, tablet, laptop, lights, headphones, and smaller power stations with USB C cables.
WiFi and Bluetooth is built-in
I love the Ecoflow app on my phone so much that it’s often the only way we control our EcoFlow power stations.
By connecting the Delta 2 to an existing WiFi-network or connecting your phone directly to it via Bluetooth, you can control and monitor every port and feature.
The app is one of the most used apps on my phone, because I like to keep track of the battery percentage and how our solar panels are doing.
It can be recharged with the help of the sun
Last but not least, the powerful MPPT solar charge controller in the Delta 2 can recharge the battery extremely fast when paired with solar panels.
Since we travel full-time in an RV we’re not often connected to the power grid and rely on solar panels for almost all of our electricity needs.
In the picture below, the Delta 2 sits next to the EcoFlow 400W solar panel which is a great panel to pair with it.
The Delta 2 supports panels rated between 11-60V, 15A, and up to 500W.
That makes it possible to charge it from 0 to 100 percent in about three hours, which is very fast for a power station this size.
Conclusion
Those are the main reasons I like and recommend the new Delta 2 by EcoFlow.
It’s not only versatile and powerful, but also smart and lightweight for what it can do.
It’s the power station to beat in 2022, and I am excited to see what EcoFlow does next!
